"Thumbing my way through the 1,000-page “
One Big Beautiful Bill”, as one is
wont to do, I came across a list of proposed rescissions to be taken up by the
Committee on Environmental and Public Works. A rescission is a cancellation of
funds previously allocated by Congress but not yet spent or contractually
obligated to be spent. In this case, these funds were allocated in the Biden
Administration’s
Inflation Reduction Act, passed (with zero Republican votes)
in 2022. The list has the benefit of focusing the mind on the vast extent of
damage the Trump 2.0 Administration intends to inflict on America’s efforts to
cut greenhouse gas emissions and address climate change and global warming more
responsibly."
